Teak Outdoor Patio Furniture -- Why Choose Teak?

For centuries, teak wood has been one of the most desired wood materials for outdoor applications.  But why?  Read on to learn some important facts about teak:

Teak is a very dense, tropical hardwood.  Because of its density, it is relatively impervious to moisture and is quite durable.

Teak has a naturally-high oil content.   The oils present in teak wood act to prevent insect damage and water penetration.

Teak is a plentiful, plantation-grown product.  In Asia and Indonesia, teak is a common wood.  Much of it is grown on responsibly-managed plantations.

Teak does not require routine maintenance or sealing.  Because of its density and oil content, teak does not need to be sealed or preserved like other woods.  In fact, left untreated, teak outdoor furniture has been known to last over 100 years in the elements!

I hope these facts help to explain all the "buzz" about teak.  It is one of the most coveted woods for outdoor furniture, and teak furniture is now available in many different styles to suit almost any decor.
