Finding Affordable Luxury Patio Furniture in Today's Economy

In today's difficult economic environment, many consumers are looking for luxury patio furniture that doesn't break the bank.  That may sound like a difficult task, but doing your research can pay off.  I have found that there are many good deals to be had online.  Many luxury outdoor furniture manufacturers are feeling the pain of the economy and have lowered their prices accordingly.  In addition, their warranties (many range from 5 - 15 years) have not changed.  This means that today actually presents a better value opportunity than last year did for purchasing premium outdoor furniture.

Outdoor Fire Pit Covers -- An Easy Solution to a Common Problem

While we're on the topic of furniture covers, I want to mention one more type of cover-- fire pit covers.  Today, fire pit covers are now widely available online.  It's great to be outside enjoying a nice fire on your patio, but when it rains, fire pits collect water and an ashy slurry forms---Yuk!  Not to mention the fact that most outdoor fire pits are usually crafted of metal -- a cover will help to prevent rusting.

A small investment in a fire pit cover is sure to pay off, but you will want to let the fire pit cool before covering it!

Patio Umbrellas -- An Attractive Way to Shade Your Outdoor Space

If your deck or patio gets too much sun, you may want to consider a patio umbrella.  Patio umbrellas are a quick and relatively inexpensive way to add style and shade to your outdoors.  In today's market, outdoor umbrellas are available in a wide array of shapes and sizes to fit almost any need.

The most common (and least expensive) canopy material is polyester.  If you are looking for a more durable option, consider olefin or Sunbrella fabric.  An octagonal-shaped canopy is the traditional choice, but square canopies are growing in popularity.

The poles are usually constructed of either wood, aluminum, or fiberglass.  My personal opinion is that fiberglass is the best choice because of its strength and flexibility (can withstand stong winds).

Most outdoor dining tables feature an umbrella hole which allows the pole to be inserted though the center of the table.  If your table doesn't have an umbrella hole, you may want to use a "cantilever" umbrella.  This type of umbrella actually can be placed next to a dining table or seating area, and the canopy can be swung out and over the desired area.

Deck Tiles -- A Quick and Easy Way to Transform Your Patio

Are you growing tired of looking at your cracked, run-down patio?  You know it needs to be fixed, but just can't afford to replace it (like most of us!). If so, then deck tiles may be the perfect solution.

Deck tiles are interlocking tiles that you can install right over an existing patio, deck, or balcony.  They usually come in 12-inch squares and are available in a variety of designs and wood types.  They are so easy to install, that the average homeowner can usually complete the task in one day.  Very few tools are needed--just a rubber mallot and a circular saw (to cut to shape if needed).

An important feature to look for is plastic feet on the underside of the tiles.  This keeps the tile slightly elavated above the base surface so that water can drain through, preventing the potential for rot.  Choose a durable material such as teak, shorea, or ipe wood.  These woods are quite dense and can withstand high moisture and foot traffic.

Deck tiles usually range from $5 to $12 per square foot, which is a small fraction of the cost of tearing out and replacing a patio.  With this great product, you can treat yourself to a whole new patio look for pennies on the dollar!

Garden Benches -- An Often Overlooked Solution to a Bland Outdoor Space

If you are frustrated with your outdoor space and you're looking for something to give it some "pop", a garden bench may be just what you need.  Garden benches are a timeless outdoor accent, and they are both attractive and functional.  Another benefit is that they are relatively inexpensive.

Garden benches are available in wood, metal, concrete, and polyresin and come in a myriad of sizes and styles.  With the advent of internet shopping, there are literally thousands of different outdoor benches to browse online.  You are sure to find just the right one for you.

Place one on your porch or by your walkway for instant curb appeal.  Or, add a couple of them to your patio for an inviting seating area.  Of course a bench always looks at home in a garden or landscaping bed.

Regardless of your style or budget, there are few better options to give you a great "bang for your buck" in outdoor decor!

Teak Outdoor Patio Furniture -- Why Choose Teak?

For centuries, teak wood has been one of the most desired wood materials for outdoor applications.  But why?  Read on to learn some important facts about teak:

Teak is a very dense, tropical hardwood.  Because of its density, it is relatively impervious to moisture and is quite durable.

Teak has a naturally-high oil content.   The oils present in teak wood act to prevent insect damage and water penetration.

Teak is a plentiful, plantation-grown product.  In Asia and Indonesia, teak is a common wood.  Much of it is grown on responsibly-managed plantations.

Teak does not require routine maintenance or sealing.  Because of its density and oil content, teak does not need to be sealed or preserved like other woods.  In fact, left untreated, teak outdoor furniture has been known to last over 100 years in the elements!

I hope these facts help to explain all the "buzz" about teak.  It is one of the most coveted woods for outdoor furniture, and teak furniture is now available in many different styles to suit almost any decor.

Patio Sets -- A Quick and Easy Outdoor Decorating Solution

If you're like most homeowners, you're probably wishing your outdoor space was better decorated.  Well, when you are ready to take the next step, I would suggest shopping for patio sets .  Patio furniture sets offer a pre-selected furniture package for those of us who don't have the creativity or inclination to piece together the perfect selection.  Patio sets range from dining sets to deep seating sets to bistro sets and everything in between.  What's more, it is usually less expensive to buy a pre-packaged set than to piece together individual items.

The most user-friendly materials in patio furniture are cast aluminum and all-weather wicker.  These two options are very low maintenance and will not rust.  Of course, there are other popular options such as teak or cedar wood or even wrought iron -- but be advised that these materials will require routine maintenance.

Regardless of your tastes, patio furniture sets can offer a relatively painless shopping and decorating process.

Outdoor Sectionals -- Bringing the Indoors Out

With the outdoor decorating trend growing quickly, it is now possible to furnish your patio with just about any type of furniture that can normally be found indoors--including outdoor sectionals!  Outdoor sectionals provide the ultimate in comfort and style to a patio space.  One of the nicest features of a sectional is the ability to arrange the individual sections according to the shape of your patio.

Most of the sectionals on the market today are crafted of wicker, but there are some that are aluminum construction.  Either type will usually come with individual seat and back cushions.  Look for a durable outdoor fabric on the cushions.

A sectional will definitely add function and value to your outdoor space (and you will be the talk of the neighborhood!).
